Getting Data into Excel

Q.
How can I store my SpectraSuite Data into a tabular form in Microsoft Excel?

A.
This procedure is good for all measurements taken in SpectraSuite including absorbance, irradiance, transmission, reflectance and intensity. Simply implement the following steps after the spectrum is properly set up.

Storing the Data

Option 1 - Multiple saving options:

Click File>Save>Save Spectrum (or use the shortcut CRTL+S)

Select the source spectrum

Choose task-specific save options
- Choose the box beside the option “Stop after this many scans”, for single or multiple scans

Fill in File Options
- Under File Type, select Tab Delimited|
- Save to Directory by creating a new folder and selecting Save
- Fill in Base Filename

Click Accept
- This will save the spectrum in the folder you designated as a text (.txt) file

Option 2 - Single save option:

Select the floppy disk icon within the spectrum window

Select the spectrum to be saved

Enter a file name for the spectrum to be saved as

Under File Type, choose Tab Delimited

Click Save

Opening Data in Microsoft Excel

Open Excel

Click File>Open (or use the shortcut CTRL+O). This opens a new window prompting you to select the file you wish to open.

Select All Files under Files of Type

Select the file that was saved in the Storing Data section

Click Open

Folow the Excel Wizard that launches
- The first column in the saved data is the Wavelength
- The second column in the saved data is data that is being looked at such as absorbance, irradiance, transmission, reflectance or intensity
